Swope Design Solutions offers a wide range of mechanical engineering and product development services from concept generation through to production in our machine shop. At SDS, we specialize in manufacturing parts and systems in low quantities ranging from 1 to 20, and occasionally in the low 100s, using the latest technologies and equipment. Our focus is on providing personalized attention and real-time improvement suggestions from our team of engineers while rapidly producing quality parts to allow our clients to meet their aggressive deadlines. We also offer final system assembly and provide assembly instructions and documentation, all completed with our signature professional approach. Our work on this front is growing, and we are continuously expanding our tools and capabilities to include CNC mills, a CNC lathe, 3D printers (including Viper and Markforged), silicone molding, and more. When it comes to high volume production, the definition of “high volume” can vary greatly depending on who you ask. At our company, we consider anything beyond a hundred copies of a part to be significant. However, in the outside world, it might not count as high volume until you’re producing hundreds of thousands of the same part per month. Whether it’s machining, injection molding, or any other process, we understand that high volume production can be cost-prohibitive and require specialized equipment. That’s why we focus on helping our clients design and optimize systems for high volume production, and then work with them to find outside vendors to do the manufacturing and assembly. We assist them in vetting manufacturers, making design changes requested by the manufacturer, and setting up and debugging production lines. Our expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) ensures that our clients can produce high volumes of quality parts efficiently and cost-effectively.
